What is SNPL?
Post-modern theorists and subversives of various political persuasions, ethnicities, and sexual orientations have argued in recent years that there is no such thing as a ‘normal’ individual or group of people. We don’t know what kind of weirdos they hang out with, because we see normality every day of the year, from Spring Break to Valentine’s Day. The next time you see someone obviously trying to be different (or who is just obviously not normal!), it may help to keep in mind that a great mass of people work, consume, and reproduce in very normal ways. This blog is an homage to and exploration of those other (mostly white) people, our own silent majority, bravely going where many have gone before.
Addendum: This is not to be confused with that other blog, Stuff White People Like.
As a means of distinction, an SWPL post would go something like this: “Driving their Prius to Whole Foods”
Whereas, an SNPL post is more along the lines of: “Driving their Camry to Randalls”
